Dr. Molly Keogh
Dr. Molly Keogh began her career as an elementary school teacher in school districts throughout Florida, New York, and South Carolina. Dr. Keogh taught children with a variety of needs including learning disabilities, English as a second language, and gifted and talented. She loved to design unique activities to meet the individual needs of the learners in her classroom. And, she became very interested in providing unique and targeted materials to allow all students access to the curriculum. Her belief in differentiated instruction became her passion. As such, Dr. Keogh designed models of instruction that ensured all of her students were enabled to reach higher-order thinking skills. She began to notice a pattern among her students: regardless of individual ability, many lacked basic skills knowledge. She found that without these basic skills, students struggled to reach higher-order thinking skills. Dr. Keogh began working on her Ph.D. to better understand how to help her students.
Based on her perspectives and experiences as a teacher, when Dr. Keogh became a mother, she was looking for a program to help her own children master the fundamental skills needed to succeed in school. She enrolled her oldest child in a few tutorial programs at an early age. With each experience, she saw her child become frustrated and bored with these programs. Dr. Keogh tried to find a program that would be interactive, adjust for her children's independent learning levels, keep them motivated, and be accessible online. Having little success, Dr. Keogh joined forces with a company called Improvement Interactive, which created the world's first fluency based e-learning product called Infrature. Infrature has successfully established itself as an e-learning corporate training program. The focus of this program was to improve retention of important information by increasing mastery through speed and accuracy. Using the Infrature model, Dr. Keogh created Whoosh Learning, an online interactive learning program designed to improve children's basic skills knowledge.
Dr. Keogh earned her Ph.D in Teaching and Curriculum from Syracuse University and holds a M.Ed in Educational Leadership and a B.S. in Elementary Education. She has taught at both the undergraduate and graduate level at Syracuse University and Towson University. Her research has been presented at a variety of national conferences. She and her husband have two children and live in the Chicago area.
